Okay, so while this is not exactly the way I pictured my first post to go, here it is...
Before you bother to read any of this, you must know that I am a MASSIVE "Harry Potter" fan. I am an original fan, which means I started reading the series back in 1998 when "Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone" was released in bookstores in the United States. I followed them religiously over the course of the following 10 years. Recently, I have come to enjoy the "Twilight" series by Stephenie Meyer, though admittedly, not as much as J.K. Rowling's series. (I actually read them because someone said that "Twilight" is the next "Harry Potter." After reading the series so far, I can conclude that as popular as the series is, it will never be a "Harry Potter." But I digress...)
That out of the way, I would like to reintroduce myself. I'm Shannon. I'm 19 and a college sophomore majoring in English and Creative Writing. I hope you enjoy this post...or at least don't think it a complete waste of your time. Also, before I start, I just have to explain that in the HP fandom, I have always been a Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny shipper. In the "Twilight" fandom, I am a big Jacob/Bella shipper. (For the record, while I am fully on Team Jacob/Werewolf, I still love Edward and have a little bit of Team Switzerland in me.) Anyway, now that you are fully aware just how big a dork I am...
I wanted to bring up a topic that may or may not have already been presented by a member somewhere in the Livejournal/"Twilight" universe. As the Harry Potter series is my first and true love, I can't help but ponder this particular topic:
Those who read the "Twilight" series know that Stephenie Meyer loves comparisons. From her alone, we have many Edward/Bella comparisons including the famous (as well as inaccurate and misguided) Romeo and Juliet, Cathy and Heathcliff, and I'm sure the list will continue as "Breaking Dawn" approaches with many "Midsummer Night's Dream" references. But what about Jacob and Bella? I'm sure there are some out there, though I am currently unaware of them. I have some of my own comparisons; mainly best friends turned lovers including, but not limited to: Luke and Lorelai (from 'Gilmore Girls'), Joey and Pacey (from 'Dawson's Creek'), Monica and Chandler, Ross and Rachel (from "F.R.I.E.N.D.S"), Will and Elizabeth (from "Pirates of the Caribbean" series), and Jim and Pam (from 'The Office'). But I'm here to explore another couple who have won the hearts of millions worldwide.
I am talking, of course about Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger from the "Harry Potter" series. How similar are they to the "Twilight" couple? In my opinion, very.
Okay, so while both Hermione Granger and Bella Swan are both very vulnerable and self-conscious, I won't waste my time or yours by pretending these two characters have much else in common becau As for the the other lovely part of both ships, Ron Weasley (my favorite character from the HP series) and Jacob Black (again, my favorite character from the "Twilight" series) are very much alike. Consider...

Any thoughts? Any comments? Any rebuttals? :D
EDIT: PLEASE REFRAIN FROM DEBATING R/HR V. H/HR OR J/B V. E/B. THIS IS A TOPIC ABOUT R/HR COMPARED TO J/B. IF YOU WANT TO REFUTE MY POST BY COMPARING H/HR WITH J/B OR EVEN R/HR WITH E/B, THAT'S FINE. BUT IF YOUR INTENTIONS ARE TO START UP ANOTHER SHIPPING WAR BETWEEN THE TWO HARRY POTTER SHIPS THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DECIDED (R/HR V. H/HR), PLEASE TAKE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE. ALSO, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO DEBATE J/B V. E/B, SO PLEASE REFRAIN FROM BRINGING UP THAT DEBATE! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE COOPERATION! :)
Enjoy yourselves!
